Bryanston residents and commuters navigating Grosvenor Road have long contended with deteriorating road surfaces. Ward 103 Councillor Vincent Earp has acknowledged the community's frustration and recently detailed the steps being taken by the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) to tackle the pervasive pothole problem, particularly between Bryanston Drive and Main Road.

Councillor Earp confirmed that several temporary repairs have been undertaken in recent months, but the underlying issues, exacerbated by heavy traffic and recent rainfall, have led to rapid re-emergence of the potholes. The JRA has now escalated Grosvenor Road for more comprehensive rehabilitation, which will involve not just patching but potentially larger-scale resurfacing in critical sections. This long-term solution is a direct response to numerous complaints received from residents and local businesses operating in the vicinity of Bryanston Shopping Centre and nearby corporate parks.

“We understand the significant inconvenience these road conditions cause, impacting daily commutes to offices and schools like Bryanston High, and affecting local commerce,” stated Councillor Earp. “I have been in constant communication with the JRA, pushing for a more permanent resolution beyond superficial fixes. While the process for major infrastructure projects can be lengthy due to budget allocations and contractor scheduling, I am assured that Grosvenor Road is a high priority. Residents can expect to see more substantial work commencing in the coming weeks, aiming for a lasting improvement to this vital route.”

The councillor urged residents to continue reporting specific pothole locations via the official JRA channels, as this data assists in prioritising maintenance schedules and allocating resources effectively. The community remains hopeful that the promised comprehensive repairs will alleviate the current hazardous driving conditions and improve accessibility within this key Bryanston precinct.
